When it comes to breathtaking coastal beauty, few places can rival the charm and splendor of Shivrajpur Beach in Gujarat, India. With its crystal-clear waters, golden sands, and serene ambiance, this hidden gem is a paradise waiting to be discovered by travelers seeking an idyllic beach escape. While most of the beaches in India are covered with dirt, seeing the shores of Blue Dang Shivrajpur gives a special kind of thrill to the whole man and also to the mind. At the same time, the thought also arises of how good it would be if the whole of India remained so clean.
Introduction to Shivrajpur Beach
Nestled along the Arabian Sea, Shivrajpur Beach stands as a testament to nature’s artistry. Its untouched beauty and tranquil surroundings make it a perfect destination for both relaxation and exploration. As the tides gently kiss the shore, visitors are treated to a visual masterpiece that evokes a sense of serenity.
In general, the surface of a beach has a gradually increasing depth, so the waves approaching the shore are high and slightly stronger. On the other hand, the surface of the bank of Shivrajpur has a saucer-like shape. The back of the saucer is shallower, so the intensity of ocean waves is attenuated. This type of topography is seen in the lagoon, formed behind the beach, while here the bank itself was of such a geological formation. Like other seashores, Shivrajpur water has a very low amount of suspended solids and liquid substances.
Due to this, the green, yellow, and red colors of sunlight are completely absorbed, giving the water a very blue appearance. Thus, nature has made the coastline of Shivrajpur extremely enchanting, with many miracles. It has become a center of attraction due to its clear, transparent, glass-like water, which is safe for bathing without any turbidity.
The Allure of Crystal Clear Waters
One of the most captivating features of Shivrajpur Beach is its remarkably clear waters. The azure expanse extends as far as the eye can see, inviting beachgoers to take a refreshing dip or engage in thrilling water sports. Snorkeling and diving enthusiasts will find themselves in a paradise of vibrant marine life, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Apart from this, Kutchhigharh Fort and Lighthouse should be visited while visiting Shivrajpur. According to one belief, it was built in 1720–21 AD to protect the merchant ships of Kutch against piracy. A fort with an area of 45 by 45 square meters and a height of 15 meters was built on this site by the Rajput royal of Kutch, Maharao Deshalji I, which was known as Kutchhigarh. In addition, facilities for ship repair as well as accommodation and rationing facilities for sailors were created here. Years later (early 19th century), a village named Shivrajpur was established here by Baroda State.
Generally, lighthouses are used to guide boats sailing at sea, but the Katchigarh lighthouse is also a structure that helps tourists on the Dwarka-Okha highway to reach Shivrajpur. Standing 35 meters above sea level and illuminated every 15 seconds by 2 metal halogen bulbs of 150 watts each, this covers an area of about 20 nautical miles (37 km).
Golden Sands and Coastal Biodiversity
The soft, golden sands of Shivrajpur Beach offer more than just a spot for sunbathing. They serve as a gateway to the diverse ecosystem that thrives in this coastal haven. The beach is a nesting ground for various marine species, including endangered sea turtles. Conservation efforts have led to its recognition as a Blue Flag beach, underscoring its importance in preserving coastal biodiversity.
One of the features of Shivpur Sea is the blue-brown corals, while another is the 24 types of corals found deep below the surface of the water. Also, the river around Shivrajpur is alive with seven species of crabs, dolphins (sea cows), whale-sharks, various baggy fishes, sea turtles, etc. Green turtles and Olive Ridley Turtles lay eggs in this area.
Activities for Every Adventurer
Shivrajpur Beach caters to the desires of every type of traveler. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or a leisure enthusiast, there’s something for everyone. From beach volleyball and horseback riding to peaceful sunset strolls, the beach provides an array of activities to create unforgettable moments.
For most people, the nearest places for scuba diving is Goa and Karnataka but now Gujarat has its own place for scuba diving. Scuba diving is offered by two private organizations in Shivrajpur. In a dive of about 20 minutes, one can fly down 15 to 25 knots to see colorful corals and various marine life. Recently, three elephant-sized corals were found by a scuba diver here.
Apart from scuba diving, tourists can also try snorkeling. For adventurous tourists, banana rides, jumping rides, boat rides, etc. are available in Shivrajpur, besides scuba diving and snorkeling. While more options like parasailing, motor gliding, and kayaking are soon to be launched, At high tide, a long strip of island can be seen at a distance of a few meters from the coast, where one can enjoy memorable moments of picnicking in the middle of the sea.
Here, the sea, which is blue-brown during the day, turns golden in the evening, and then sitting on the shore under the sky decorated with colors like yellow, orange, and purple and watching the setting sun is unique. During the time of the new moon, the privilege of seeing the sky at night is not to be missed.
Blue Flag: 33 fine points of cleanliness, safety and facilities-
Three and a half decades ago, the European country of France started an environmental awareness campaign under the title ‘Blue Flag’. School students would write messages about keeping the ocean clean and then seal the message in a bottle and throw it into the sea. The purpose of Blue Flag was to read the message contained in the bottle after crossing several kilometers on the surface of the sea and read the message in it when it reaches the coast of that country. In order to further achieve that goal on a global scale, Denmark’s Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) took over the Blue Flag Mission. It announced the blue title for clean beaches.
A total of 33 strict conditions must be met by a coastguard organization to receive this award. Four main criteria are at the center: environmental information and education, sea water quality, planning for environmental conservation, and tourist safety and comfort. So far, a total of 4,600 beaches in 50 countries have been awarded the Blue Flag, including the beaches of Spain, the European country with the highest number. 8 beaches in our country got that title. The sea of Shivrajpur is one of them. Unknown to many Indians for years, the beach has become famous today because of the blue flag.
According to one of the important criteria of the Blue Flag Beach in Shivrajpur, it is planned that even the physically challenged person can reach the beach and take the privilege of bathing.
Moreover, for the safety of tourists, there are life guards, way towers, demarcations of safe area for bathing, basic facilities, cutouts showing information related to marine life, first aid facility, dustbin for disposal of solid waste, footpaths for beach walk, seating facility for tourists, drinking water, Various facilities, such as solar energy cycles and solar-powered beach lights, various sports equipment for children, safety devices like CCTV, parking spaces for vehicles, etc., have been set up. Through all these facilities, the beautiful beach of Shivrajpur has come to be truly enjoyed today.
